LGV Driver CPC

                

Objective :

Driver CPC Periodic training is designed to confirm

and expand on the drivers existing knowledge and

skills to ensure they continue to be safe, courteous and

fuel efficient drivers.

  

  • New driver’s initial qualification to obtain an LGV licence includes, a four hour theory test and a two hour driving and practical test, carried out at DSA test centres.
 
  • Drivers of vehicles exceeding 3.5 tonnes GVW new and, existing

will then have to undertake 35 hours of training every five years with a Department of Transport approved Training Provider to ensure that their Driver CPC is current, this is known as Periodic Training. Any training carried out prior to the regulations coming into force will not count towards the Driver CPC requirements.

 

  • Drivers who hold both a PCV and LGV licence will only have to

complete 35 hours of approved training every five years. The minimum amount of training counting towards the CPC will be a 7 hour period.

Course Content :

  • Module 1. Safe and economic driving.
  • Module 2. Vehicle loading with regard to the safety rules and vehicle use.
  • Module 3. Application of regulations.
  • Module 4. Health, road and environmental safety.
  • Module 5. The economic environment of road haulage.
