Bricklayer (Level 2)

Are you looking to become a Bricklayer? At the GTA we will support you to pursue this career. Bricklayers build new houses and extensions, repair walls and chimneys, refurbish properties and dwellings. This can lead to a career working on restoration projects, new private residences or commercial buildings.
A great start to your career
The Bricklayer Apprenticeship usually takes 24 to 30 months. On successful completion of this Apprenticeship, the apprentice will have satisfied the requirements to obtain a Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card at the appropriate level.
What will you learn?

How to lay bricks, blocks and other types of building components.

How to construct and repair walls, foundations, partitions, arches and other structures e.g. chimney stacks.

Autonomy and Teamwork on larger jobs where their bricklaying group (gang) may work on a particular section of a building alongside other bricklaying gangs.

How to mix mortar by hand or with a mechanical mixer.

How to Lay bricks to set dimensions.

How to apply mortar with a trowel to completion.

How to shape and trim bricks/ blocks using hammers, chisels and power tools.

How to use laser levels, spirit levels, optical levels and string lines to check that courses are straight, horizontally and vertically, and laid to a gauge.

Customer Service techniques.
