Are you looking to pursue a career as a Specialist Tyre Operative? At Group Training Association (GTA) we will provide the training for you to succeed. You will be trained to answer scheduled and emergency tyre maintenance to ensure the safety of both yourself and others.

A great start to your career

On completion of this apprenticeship in Specialist Tyre Operative you will be eligible to apply for Institute of Motor Industry (IMI) membership and entry on to the IMI Professional Register.

What will you learn?

  • How to ensure the vehicle's tyres are maintained 

  • Learn to maintain, check and safely use the required equipment (including hand tools, equipment for tyre repairs and replacement, wheel balancing, pressure calibration and diagnosis and wheel geometry)

  • How to use tyre re-grooving equipment and prolong tyres life while ensuring safety

  • Skills that will allow you to assess risk before and during any repair activity

  • Preform assessments in customer and passenger hazards

  • How to inspect, remove, repair and replace vehicle's tyres

  • How to balance vehicle's wheels in all locations

  • Skills that will allow you to interpret data from tyre pressure monitoring systems and tyre labelling

  • Learn to interpret vehicle-specific data and inspecting, adjusting and reporting on vehicle front wheel geometry
